Cosmetic procedures may be completed to cover unaesthetic, sensitive, or receding gum tissues to prevent further recession or tissue loss in the future. Please see our gum grafting page for more details about these procedures.
Periodontal disease (gum disease) typically happens if there is prolonged plaque buildup on your teeth. Many times this leads to a bacterial infection that, if left unchecked, causes bone loss and loosening of your teeth.
Daily care for your teeth at home, such as brushing and flossing your teeth, is important in preventing the build-up of plaque. Some people are more susceptible to gum disease and should inform their dentist of any discomfort, discoloration, or loose teeth.
